PUNE: The Symbiosis Elocution and Debate Association (SEDA), which is part of the Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce, will host an inter-collegiate debate competition on September 11, titled Waxing Eloquent. This is the 33rd year of the competition being held.
Organisers have said that due to the response it has received every year, it will accept the entry of only one team from a college. The English-language debate, which is open to both undergraduate and post-graduate students, will start early morning on September 11.
They added that the topic will be “Sports Extravaganza are an Economic Drain”, referring to the huge cost incurred in hosting sporting events all around the world, like the Olympics and the football World Cup, and the financial burden that some countries have to bear as a result.
At the debate, each team can have two members, with four minutes to speak on the topic. They will also have a round for rebuttals. The organisers have cash awards and trophies for the winners, runners-up, and the best speakers.
