BHUBANESWAR: Centre for Humanities and Compassion Studies of the Xavier University Bhubaneswar (XUB) will hold a conference on Gandhi on October 1. Topic of the conference is ‘Searching for ‘Human’ in humanities’.
M Nadarajah, chair professor of the centre, said they will have three sessions discussing on compassion, non-violence and Gandhian philosophy. Experts like Siby K Joseph from Institute of Gandhian Studies will deliberate on integration of compassion with non-violence in the first session.
Second session will hold discussions on imagining Gandhi and the ecological context of the Sundarbans, while the last session will deliberate on Gandhi, compassion and new humanities. Speakers like Amites Mokhopadhyay of Jadavpur University and Avijit Pathak from Jawaharlal Nehru University will attend the conference.
