Higher education department secretary Saswat Mishra on Wednesday urged National Law University Odisha (NLUO), Cuttack, to reserve 25 per cent of seats in it’s under graduate courses for students of Odisha.
Mishra in a letter to the vice chancellor of the university said the students who have passed class XII or equivalent examinations from the state of Odisha shall be eligible for claiming reservation for admission under the state domicile quota.
“I would request you to work out the necessary modalities so as to enable the students of Odisha to avail 25 per cent domicile reservation for taking admission in the NLUO, Cuttack, from the academic session,” said the secretary in the letter.
Mishra had also written a letter to vice chancellor of the university on August 2 last year on the issue. He had told the university authorities that the Odisha government has given close to Rs 200 crore to the institute for development of its infrastructure.
The higher education department had also written a letter to the university on April 24, 2018, on the same issue. It is also learnt that no reservation has yet been provided to the students of Odisha in the under graduate courses, said a senior officer of the higher education department.
