Last year, JEE Main Exam Pattern 2020 was released on September and there were some major changes noticed. This exam is now to be conducted for separate degree courses – B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Plan.
The B.E./B.Tech. exam is set to be conducted online (computer-based examination) comprising of 300 marks and the B.Arch examination will be conducted online and offline. Online examination is to be conducted for the Mathematics and Aptitude and the offline mode will be conducted to check the candidates’ drawing skills. The test will have a total of 400 marks. B.Plan examination is to be conducted separately where 100 multiple-choice questions will carry a total of 400 marks.
Highlights of JEE Main 2020 Examination Pattern
B.E/B.Tech
Mode of Examination – Online (Computer Based Examination).
Subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
- Examination Duration – 3hrs (1hr per section) and 4 hours will be given to candidates having disability.
- Total Number of Questions – 75 (20+5 questions per section). Equal marks distribution for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Total 300 marks, 4 marks for each question. For every wrong answer, students will be rewarded with 1 negative mark, however, there will be no negative marking for numerical type questions.
- Examination Language – English, Hindi and Gujarati for candidates for candidates from Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
B.Arch
- Mode of Examination – Online (Computer Based Examination for Mathematics and Aptitude) and Offline (Drawing Test in A4 paper).
- Subjects – Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing.
- Examination Duration – 3hrs and 4 hours will be given to candidates having disability.
- Total Number of Questions – Will have 77 questions with 25 questions (20 MCQ questions and 5 numeric questions) from Mathematics, 50 from Aptitude and 2 from Drawing.
- Total Marks – 400 marks of which Drawing will have 100 marks.
B.Plan
Mode of Examination – Online (Computer Based Examination for Mathematics and Aptitude and B.Plan).
Subjects – Mathematics, Aptitude and Planning.
- Examination Duration – 3hrs.
- Total Number of Questions – Will have 77 questions with 25 questions from Mathematics, 50 from Aptitude and 2 from Drawing.
- Total Marks – 400 marks of which Drawing will have 100 marks.
- Examination Language – English, Hindi and Gujarati for candidates from Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

B.Plan

- Examination Language – English, Hindi and Gujarati for candidates for candidates from Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
