The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Neet) coaching classes for government school students would begin from June second week, said school education minister K A Sengottaiyan on Sunday. He was speaking to reporters at Gobichettipalayam in Erode. He said after closely analysing Class X results, the state would decide whether to promote all the students this year.
Sengottaiyan said a total of 7,300 government school students would be offered free Neet coaching for 35 days at nine colleges across the state. “The state is hopeful that at least 100 government school students would clear Neet this year.”

When asked whether all Class X students would be promoted this year, considering the pandemic situation, he said the state would closely analyse their marks and take a call on that. “We have made all the necessary facilities for differently abled students to sit for the exam.”
The Class X board exams, which was earlier scheduled to be held from June 1 to June 12, would now be held from June 15 to June 25. As all the schools would be examination centres, education officials have been asked to make arrangements to clean and sanitize school premises and ensure proper facilities to conduct the exam.
The minister also said a call on when to reopen schools would be taken only after assessing Covid-19 pandemic situation.
