Nalanda Open University (NOU) will begin the process of online admission to different courses from Thursday. Vice-chancellor H N Prasad will launch the admission process through the newly acquired university management information system (UMIS).
“The process of admission to Class XII as well as 28 postgraduate (PG), 7 PG diploma, 27 honours and 23 certificate courses will continue till September 30. All admissions will be made through the link provided on the official website of the university (www.nou.ac.in),” NOU joint registrar A N Pandey told this newspaper on Wednesday and added that women were entitled to get 25 % concession in course fee.
NOU has more than 300 study centres in various educational institutes, including 63 constituent colleges of different universities in the state. The remaining are running in +2 schools.

“Most study centres are located in educationally backward blocks,” said Pandey.
At present, NOU is functioning from its camp office in Patna, but is likely to shift to its own building being constructed at Nalanda. The university is recognized by the Distance Education Bureau, University Grants Commission, and Ministry of Human Resource Development for imparting education through distance mode.
According to a senior official of NOU, the university is likely to introduce choice based credit system soon and trying to get itself accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
