Last time the Supreme Court on September 30 had declined to postpone the Union Public Service Commission, UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam. At that time the bench headed by Justice AM Khanwilkar had asked the Centre to consider granting one more chance to those aspirants who may not appear in their last attempt for the exam due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The order read, “Considering the fact that exams have been conducted in the recent past, it is a testimony to the fact that SOP is followed by MHA to conduct such exams. Lack of transport facilities across all centres has not been substantiated by the Petitioners.” The attempts for the students are fixed by UPSC in the following order- The general candidates get 6 attempts till the age of 32 whichever is earlier, nine attempts for OBC candidates till 35 years of age, and unlimited attempts for SC ST candidates till 37 years of age.
