CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government, on Tuesday ruled out the possibility of closing down schools in the wake of increased number of schoolchildren getting infected by Covid-19 over the past 20 days. Meanwhile, the Board of School Education in Haryana has released details of the system to be followed for the annual examinations to be conducted by the schools across the state. The department has made it clear that classes IX and XI examinations will be held offline and schools will have to make elaborate arrangements, even for suspected Covid cases. Haryana education minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar said the department was closely monitoring the situation. “The situation is very much under control and schools have been told to ensure strict adherence of SOP for the conduct of exams. In case of further increase or situation going beyond control, we shall take the call accordingly,’’ he said. Gujjar added that as per Board directions, classes I and II students would have to take oral exams through telephone by teachers concerned. Students of classes III to VIII will appear for online examinations.
“As far as classes III-VII are concerned, examinations shall be held through app. Five students can join the app at one time. The board has cleared details of senior classes. Universities shall take a call on the mode of examinations. But, yes as of now, there is no closure of schools and colleges. We have plans to start the new session from April 1 onwards,’’ said Gujjar. NEWS IN BRIEF
