University exams to be conducted in May not April

The surges in Covid-19 cases in Madhya Pradesh has once again taken a toll on the conduction of the end-term exams in higher educational institutes as it was announced on Saturday that the university exams in the state will be conducted in May this year, not April.

The end-term exams for university students are always conducted in the month of April in Madhya Pradesh, but in view of the rise in Covid-19 cases across the state, the government has decided to postpone the exams by one month and conduct them in May

While talking about the examinations to be conducted for the university students, the higher education minister said this year, around 4.3 lakh students in final year graduation courses and 1.72 lakh students from post-graduation fourth semester will be appearing for the exams.

Offline exams for university students

Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Minister Mohan Yadav also stated that the exams for students in the final year of graduation and post-graduation courses will be appearing for the end-term examinations in offline mode.

Many students were surprised that the exams are being conducted in offline mode this year amid the surge of Covid-19 cases in the state in the past few days. The minister also said that students in intermediate semesters will be appearing for open book exams.

The government of Madhya Pradesh has also shut down the schools in the state till the end of the month in view of the Covid-19 cases in the area. The schools will reopen in April after the state government has reviewed the Covid-19 situation in the state.

Madhya Pradesh reported 2,142 new Covid-19 cases, 1,175 recoveries, and 10 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the State Health Department on Saturday. With this, the total cases in the State mounted to 2,86,407 including 12,995 active cases and 2,69,465 total recoveries.
