The University of Delhi (DU) is likely to begin the registration process for admission 2021 by July 15, said Acting Vice-Chancellor PC Joshi on Thursday (June 3). Due to the COVID-19 crisis, DU Admission 2021 registration and other processes will be online. The admission process will begin after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and state boards will declare the result of Class 12.
According to Rajeev Gupta, Chairman DU Admission, there are 70000 seats for UG courses in 60 colleges affiliated to DU.
DU also conducts entrance tests for admission to nine undergraduate courses which are administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Vice-Chancellor PC Joshi also told the news agency, there is no way to calculate the merit. These are extraordinary circumstances. Central Universities Common Entrance Test can be a good approach as it will be based on pan-India merit.
Joshi also said, “DU will not compromise on the basis of merit. We will adjust to the new situation and see which way has to be developed. We will wait and see what criteria the board adopts for evaluating the students.”
He further said that when the situation becomes favorable, in the future Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) examination can be conducted for admission in Central Universities. CUCET is an all-India level entrance exam conducted for admission to central universities.
The central government on Tuesday decided that Class 12 board exams of CBSE and CISCE would not be held this year in view of the uncertain conditions due to COVID-19 and the feedback obtained from various stakeholders
The government said CBSE and CISCE will take steps to compile the results of Class 12 students as per well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner. It was also decided that like last year, in case some students desire to take the exams, such an option would be provided to them by CBSE and CISCE, as and when the situation becomes conducive.
