he Indian School of Business (ISB) has launched an online course on “Better Reporting on Food and Agriculture” in collaboration with the IndiaSpend School of Data Journalism (ISDJ). The course provides access to India Data Portal (IDP) developed by the Bharti Institute of Public Policy (BIPP) at ISB. This is an open-access portal for journalists to access, interact with, and visualize information, data and knowledge related to agriculture and financial inclusion, while also aiding other beneficiaries — researchers, students, policymakers, administrators, NGOs, and entrepreneurs, according to an ISB statement.
Participants can log in to study offline and upon completion, secure an online certification. The food and agriculture course is free for the applicants.
Open-source data
For journalists, researchers, and public policy experts, finding updated data, facts, and figures on food, agriculture and financial inclusion can be an uphill task. The course aims to provide an understanding of the broad aspects around the state of agriculture in India, an overview of relevant food and agriculture policies in India, insights on the various initiatives introduced by the government around and supporting the agriculture activities.
The course also provides an in-depth understanding of the India Data Portal, which is a one-stop destination for open-access data on agriculture, rural development and financial inclusion in India. This course is relevant to newsrooms, journalism, and public policy students, development sector professionals, members of the food and agriculture associations, data enthusiasts, policymakers, academia, and civil society organizations.
In-depth understanding
Participants will be trained by Prof Ashwini Chhatre, Executive Director of Bharti Institute of Public Policy, Indian School of Business among host of other experts.
