Chandigarh, July 5
Haryana’s school education department has directed all private schools in the state to update their Management Information System (MIS) to provide accurate information regarding enrollment of students in the schools.
Giving information in this regard, an official spokesperson of the Education Department said that last year 29 lakh students had been enrolled in private schools of the state, out of which data of only 17 lakh students had been updated on MIS by these schools so far.
He said that the MIS of the Education Department is for covering all government and private schools, through which the admissions can be monitored actively through a Unique Student Registration Number (SRN) given to every student.
He said the private schools were not updating the data about students on the portal at a faster pace as 12 lakh children were still on the portal but this had not been updated on MIS in spite of the fact that the private schools can update MIS very easily.
He said the Education Minister Kanwar Pal had directed the private schools to update their MIS immediately. Currently 12 lakh children are on the MIS portal and there is no chance of any drop out or disappearance regarding the same. He said that after the stipulated time frame, strict action would be taken against the schools that fail to update the complete record on the portal.
The spokesperson said that the department had taken serious cognisance of the matter and all District Education Officers and District Primary Education Officers had been directed to discuss with the private schools in this regard and get this enrollment data updated on MIS. Apart from this, the associations of private schools had also been also apprised in this regard.
The spokesperson said that in a meeting chaired by the Education Minister, the decision was taken to open schools for teachers from May 1 with the aim of reducing the dropout rate in schools to zero during Covid-19. After this, online admissions of students were started so that the parents were not inconvenienced and after assessing the enrollment on May 30 it had been found that the parents were not much interested in sending their children to schools yet. In view of this, the admission date was extended till June 30 by the Education Minister.
