About the Program
Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS), J&K 2021-22 is an initiative for Class 12 passed and diploma degree holders in J&K and Ladakh. The scholarship aims to support the youth of J&K in pursuing higher education outside the state. It facilitates the access of quality education to students so as to equip them with knowledge, skills, experience, and training for higher academic level/profession. The students selected for PMSSS can benefit from a scholarship of up to INR 3 lakh per annum with other grants.
Scholarship Details
Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS), J&K 2021-22, Deadline: 15-Sep-2021
Eligibility:
The following are eligible for PMSSS:
- Students who are the domiciles of Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh.
- Students who have passed 10+2 exam from the J&K Board (JKBOSE) or CBSE affiliated schools located in UTs of J&K and Ladakh.
- Students must have an annual family income of less than INR 8 lakh.
Note: The following are not eligible for the scholarship-
- Candidates pursuing courses through Open Universities.
- Student availing benefit of any other scholarship Scheme.
- Candidates gaining admission through ‘Management Quota’.
- Candidates pursuing Diploma course.
- Candidates pursuing Post Graduate level studies, in any discipline.
- Candidates having family income over Rs. 8.00 Lakh per annum.
- Candidates who have not applied through online registration in the AICTE Portal.
- Candidates taking admission in the Colleges other than the prescribed colleges given in AICTE Portal.
- Candidates who have taken admission through Agents/NGOs.
Benefits:
- A total of 5,000 scholarships will be awarded for students pursuing courses in General Degree, Professional Degree, and Medical Streams. Students selected for the scholarship will receive the following benefits:
For General Degree:
- Up to INR 30,000 per annum for the academic fee (payable to the institution).
- Maintenance charges of INR 1 lakh per annum (payable to the student).
- A total of 2070 scholarships to be offered.
For Professional Degree:
- Up to INR 1.25 lakh per annum for the academic fee (payable to the institution).
- Maintenance charges of INR 1 lakh per annum (payable to the student).
- A total of 2830 scholarships to be offered .
For MBBS/BDS or Equivalent Medical Streams:
- Up to INR 3 lakh per annum for the academic fee (payable to the institution).
- Maintenance charges of INR 1 lakh per annum (payable to the student).
- A total of 100 scholarships to be offered.
Documents:
- Domicile certificate of J&K
- Family Income Certificate (Issued by Tehsildar or equivalent)
- Aadhaar card
- Class 10th mark sheet
- Class 12th mark sheet
- Diploma Certificate (for lateral entry only)
- Valid Caste certificate for SC/ST/SEBC for claiming the reservation as per State Govt. Policy
- Valid disability certificate (if any)
How can you apply?
Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship through the following steps –
Step 1: Click on the ‘Apply Now‘.
Step 2: Scroll down and click on ‘PMSSS 2021-22: Registration’.
Step 3: Fill the registration form with all the required details to ‘Register’.
Step 4: After successful registration, eligible candidates will be issued a username and password to fill the online form on AICTE Portal
Step 5: Fill in the necessary information and attach the relevant documents.
Step 6: Submit the application form.

- Application Start: 6th September 2021
- Application Deadline: 15th September 2021
Selection Criteria:
- The scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of merit.
Terms and Conditions:
- After the submission of the application, it is necessary to verify the documents at the Facilitation Centre.
- The allotment of seats by AICTE will be done through online counseling only.
- The merit list of students will be displayed well before the first round of counseling results.
- The photo and signature uploaded on the portal should be in .JPG/.PDF/.PNG format with the size of the file not exceeding 2MB.
- The academic fee to the institution will be disbursed directly by AICTE.
