GSSSB recruitment exam paper leak 14 arrested exam cancelled re exam in March 2022

The GSSSB paper leak case concerning the Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board’s recruitment exam to hire head clerks saw an FIR lodged against 11 people on December 18 for illegally acquiring the paper and selling it for Rs 10 to 15 lakh each.

As of today, 14 people connected to the case have been arrested and the investigation is in process. So far, the police have recovered Rs 30 lakh. Seventy people had access to the question paper before the exam. Strict action will be taken against them as well.

The GSSSB recruitment exam was taken by over 88,000 candidates for the 186 head clerk vacancies on December 12. The FIR was lodged on the day the state government admitted to the paper having leaked.

GSSSB recruitment exam now scheduled for March 2022

The GSSSB exam that was conducted has been cancelled and a re-exam will be scheduled in the month of March 2022.

Meanwhile, if a candidate crosses the age limit due to the shift in exam date, he/she will still be considered eligible.

Investigation in process

The ongoing investigation is being conducted in the fast-track court after the FIR was lodged at Prantij police station of Sabarkantha.

The number of accused in the case includes Mahendra Patel from Poglu village in Prantij who is contesting the election for the post of Sarpanch in the same village.

As per the FIR, the accused not only provided the question papers to certain candidates bit also provided the resources in order to learn the answers and reach their respective exam centres.

Police traces paper leak to printing press

The latest development shows that the police has traced the paper leak to the Sanand printing press, the head of which has now been arrested.

The private printing press and GSSSB had a contract for printing the question papers for the recruitment exam.

Two others arrested on Monday were a staff member of HCG Hospital and an ambulance driver at Singarva Hospital.

In 2019, the GSSSB recruitment exam for clerks had also seen a paper leak followed by a number of arrests.
