To support the international mobility of the skilled workforce, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), Ministry of Education (MoE), and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) have organized the first Virtual Global Skill Summit in New Delhi.The summit was co-chaired by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal.The Virtual Global Skill Summit (VGSS) was held on June 28th to October, focusing on skill harmonization and benchmarking of qualifications, quality standardization, capacity building, and knowledge exchange in order to enhance global mobility, employmentability, and readiness for the youth to participate in the global workforce.Shri Piyush Goyal said that it is remarkable to see the whole government scheme work together today, with all ministries and India Missions working together on a single platform, fostering innovation through skill transfer and driving partnerships supporting global skill transfer.
Mr Goyal also stressed that serious negotiations must be undertaken for dual degree and joint degree programs.This would result in the development of new opportunities for Indian youth to work abroad.He said that on-the-job training must be encouraged and that the ability to perform should be maintained.He said that this is a good time to organize this summit and that skill development could be the basis for an Aatmanibhar Bharat.
