JEE Toppers Tips How Shubham Kumar is preparing for JEE Advanced 2023 follow his list of books

Shubham Kumar was fascinated by the Indian Institute of Technology since he was in Class 9. Son of an Indian Army officer, Kumar wanted to make his parents proud by achieving success in entrance and board exams.

When did I complete my course
My course was completed in the first week of December. I never took it as a burden, I enjoyed studies. During the last 25 days, I completely shifted my focus to the syllabus of JEE Main. I revised NCERT line by line, especially for Chemistry. I joined Vedantu online classes for preparation.

My study schedule

I preferred studying till late at night. I would wake up every morning at 7:30 am. Then I would study from 8 am till lunch time. After lunch, I used to take a 25 minute nap to boost my memory. After that I would study the chapters that needed to be memorised. I had my online classes from 5 pm to 8 pm.

Everyday, I used to revise notes for 15 to 20 minutes before the classes. All in all, I studied for nearly 13 to 14 hours a day. Before our classes began, we used to solve the modules for each subject.

My strategy
I practiced for a lot of mock tests and did not lose confidence upon scoring low marks in mock tests rather I focussed on what I was lacking and worked on it. During my low phase, I used to watch Ben Lionel Scott YouTube channel.

Chemistry was the easiest subject for me for JEE Main and for JEE Advanced I feel Physics is the easiest. Mathematics isn’t one of my strongest subjects.

Books I referred to
Apart from coaching material and NCERT, I referred to HC Verma both volume 1 and 2 for Physics. For Physical Chemistry I referred to Narendra Awasthi, for Organic Chemistry it was Himanshu Pandey. I referred to Cengage for Mathematics, however for Inorganic Chemistry, I completely relied on NCERT.

My preparation for JEE Advanced
I believe the preparation for JEE Advanced involves evolved thinking and brainstorming whereas JEE Main has a wide and decent coverage of the entire syllabus.
