Admission to MBBS programme after September 30 are invalid NMC to states UTs

NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission has directed all stakeholders, including central authorities, state authorities and medical colleges, to strictly adhere to the counselling schedule set by the academic session 2023-24 for UG MBBS programmes.

The NMC had noted that several states such as Maharashtra, Bihar and West Bengal had conducted NEET UG counselling beyond the cut-off date i.e. September 30. It had added that any admission or conduct of counselling beyond the cut-off date was in violation of the notice issued by NMC as well as in violation of the judgments passed by the Supreme Court.

The NMC has asked the stakeholders to strictly adhere to the counselling schedule as fixed by the National Medical Commission for the academic session 2023-24 for UG MBBS Course in accordance with judgments of the apex court. Recently, the NMC had asked all medical colleges to submit the details of all students admitted in the first-year MBBS course for the academic year 2023-24 by October 20. The commission has listed out college and student details to be submitted by the college. NMC reminded colleges that MBBS admissions 2023 must be done in accordance with the NMC Act and National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) based selection process notified by the Graduate Medical Education Regulations 2023.
