To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be an Indian citizen residing in India

- have completed postgraduate studies

A total of 15-20 scholars will receive £1,750 (one-time) towards the costs of their stay in the UK. The funding is usually enough for about three weeks.
Note:-
- The grants are payable in the UK and do not cover international travel costs.
- The grantees will also be expected to cover their travel costs within India and are required to obtain the appropriate level of insurance coverage for travel and medical emergencies.
- Applicants planning to stay in the UK for more than three weeks are required to supplement the CWIT grant with other funding e.g. a grant from the Indian Council for Historical Research.
- CWIT offers limited financial support to Indian doctoral students nearing completion at UK universities who plan to return to India. These small grants (£700) aim to bridge funding gaps but require applicants to demonstrate additional income or financial backing from other sources.

- A photograph of the applicant (in jpeg, jpg, or png format)
- Emergency name and contact details in India

- An indication of how much time the applicant wishes to spend in the UK- remember the CWIT grant is reckoned to be sufficient for about 3 weeks
- Names and addresses of two referees who know the applicant’s work well and who have agreed to be referees
