Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chancellor of the Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences, Pilani, launched its new business school — BITS School of Management — on January 28. Birla said this was the time to groom the next generation of leaders and we must think about whether the management education currently practiced is being able to keep up with the ever-changing world. The new campus will be situated in Mumbai.
“I believe there is a need to redefine the content, format and delivery of a management programme to understand how they are changing according to the consumer needs,” said the Chancellor. The BITS’ new project comes at a time when India along with the rest of the world is recovering from the pandemic and its economic and social effects.
The BITSOM will keep an eye on the holistic development of the students, said Birla. “The multidisciplinary curriculum will offer students an immersive and engaging experience,” he added announcing a two-year course in management from the brand new B-School. “Journeys don’t end at B-Schools. They start here and I think BITSOM will help in that process a lot,” he said.
