NEW DELHI: Aaditri Vaibhav, student of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, stood first in the second round of the National Inter-college crossword expedition 2023 (NICE 2023) on Sunday. The contest is being organised by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in collaboration with National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) and a civil society named Extra-C.
The second round was titled I, in which Vaibhav was declared the winner. Even the second position was captured by an IIT Kharagpur student named Akshay Kumar Joshi. Rishita Kumari of Patna University finished third in the expedition.
In the zonal rankings, Jyoti Kumari of Nalanda college of engineering (Bihar) topped the east zone, while Charangundala Sailaxman from National Institute of technology (NIT) Meghalaya seized the first position in the North east zone.
Tiya Agarwal from Sanskriti University of Mathura has captured the top spot in the North zone, while Poojalakshmi of Panimalar engineering college of Thiruvallur of Tamil Nadu has topped the South zone. Premthilak of BJ medical college in Ahmedabad of Gujarat claimed the west zone title.
NICE 2023 is the second edition of the national expedition contest, which was inaugurated in 2022. It comprises three stages. Stage 1 further encompasses four rounds, on qualifying which, the candidate gains entry into Stage 2. Stage 2 is an offline team contest. In this stage, five zonal rounds are held where qualifying students are required to form two-member teams to represent their institutions.
Students who emerge as winners of zonal finals then confront each other in the national capital to play the grand finale and claim the championship trophy.
