Efforts are being made to ensure that Army veterans find gainful employment in India’s IT sector, with Indian Army and the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) working together to find avenues for officers and soldiers who have relevant skills.
The path-breaking initiative will ensure that ex-servicemen from the Army can use their IT skills in the IT industry after an active army life.
“The Army produces a large number of cadres in various IT related fields but most of them are unable to find suitable options in the second inning after an active army life mostly because of the technological and cultural differences,” said managing director at the Army Welfare Placement Organization Major General (retd) Deepak Sapra.

“Many multi-national firms have shown keenness to hire army veterans for their exceptional attributes including discipline and loyalty but the technological and cultural differential with corporate world becomes a significant challenge in hiring these veterans for modern day IT related jobs,” said an Indian Army spokesperson.
If successful, the initiative will have “far reaching implications” as give the soldiers and officers a shot at advanced job roles in the IT Sector.
While the army will assess the IT industries needs during the two day event in Bangalore, NASSCOM will help the army orient soldiers and officers on their way out to the modern industrial needs in the IT sector.
