Higher education facing challenges

The Dr. BR Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) and Prof. G. Ram Reddy memorial trust, Hyderabad, jointly organised the Prof. G. Ram Reddy Memorial Lecture on its campus as part of the 90th birthday celebrations of founder Vice-Chancellor, BRAOU, Prof. G. Ram Reddy.

Prof. D.Narsimha Reddy, Former Dean, School of Social Sciences University of Hyderabad (UoH), delivering a keynote address on “Challenges of Higher Education”, said there was too much glamour and less quality of education however, higher education is very important for growing our economy higher education in India has many challenges and issues.

India’s gross enrolment rate (GER) is just 24 per cent which is not good, GER is six per cent below the world average and at least 50 per cent lesser than other developed countries, low quality institutes all over the country is not good for higher education. Prof. A. Sudhakar, Director (Academic), Dr. G. Lamxa Reddy, Registrar In-charge, Prof. G. Ram Reddy, Prof. G. Haragopal, Secretary, and others were present during the seminar.
