Inspiration to create Young Scientists Labs from PM Modi’s 2014 speech
According to the Defence Ministry’s research and development wing, the inspiration to create Young Scientist Laboratories came from an address Modi delivered on August 24, 2014, during a DRDO award function.
PM Narendra Modi had proposed in 2014 to identify at least five DRDO labs for innovation by young scientists aged under 35 years.
Giving away the DRDO awards in 2014, Modi had also called for facilitating greater involvement of youth in defence research-related activities so that India remained abreast of global technological advancements in the field.
