Delhi University Permanent Faculty Can Now Double Up as Guest Lecturers

Delhi University (DU) has permitted its permanent faculty members to take on additional teaching roles as guest faculty in the University or its associated colleges.

This announcement was made via an official notification dated October 31.

ELIGIBILITY AND PROCEDURE
Not all additional classes will be considered. Only those who are above and beyond the permanent faculty’s set workload will be eligible. For now, a faculty member can take up guest faculty roles in just one institution or college, separate from their parent institution.

A faculty member can undertake a maximum of four credit courses per semester as a guest lecturer at another institution. They will be required to secure a ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) and a certification from their parent institute to embark on this dual role.

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

The university has also laid out an attractive compensation package for those who take up this opportunity. An honorarium of Rs 1,500 per lecture will be offered, with a capping of Rs 50,000 per month for those who take up teaching additional classes.

This move is likely to enhance the overall academic environment and foster better interaction among faculties across the numerous institutions and colleges under DU.
